Demand For Remote Start Increases

Drivers, remote-start your engines!

More and more Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram customers are adding the ultra-convenient Remote Start feature to their vehicles. In 2009, Mopar sales for Remote Start are up 20 percent. Nearly 90 percent of Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram vehicles are available with Remote Start.

Those customers who want to add the feature after purchase, or who buy a used vehicle without Remote Start, will turn to Mopar for the feature. "Remote Start is becoming less of a luxury and more of a necessity," said Pietro Gorlier, President and Chief Executive Officer, Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care. "As we head into winter and the holiday gift-giving season, we expect even more of our customers to warm up to Remote Start."

Drivers with Remote Start may start their vehicle from up to 300 feet away, allowing the engine to warm up and the interior of the vehicle to heat or cool based on the pre-set temperature. The engine will stay on for 10 minutes and will shut off if a key is not inserted into the ignition. Unlike other aftermarket offerings, Mopar's Remote Start system utilizes proven, quality-tested factory components and is seamlessly integrated into the vehicle without any splicing or cutting of existing wires. In addition, Mopar integrates and combines the function into one key fob, eliminating the need for excess fobs.

Remote Start is fully covered under the vehicle's bumper-to-bumper new-vehicle warranty or Mopar's 12-month/12,000-mile limited warranty, whichever is most advantageous to the customer. Remote Start is available on 2008-2010 model-year Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram vehicles. Depending on the vehicle, the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) ranges from $235 to $299, plus installation. The installation process takes approximately one hour and may be done at any Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram store.

If you are interested in adding remote start to your vehicle, contact Pollard Jeep for more information.

Jeep Brand Has Highest Resale Value Among Domestic Brands

  • Jeep brand boasts highest resale value among all domestic brands
  • Jeep brand resale value improves for 2010 as industry average declines
  • Jeep vehicles projected to retain nearly 36 percent of original retail price after five years of ownership-- more than 3 percent above industry average
  • Jeep one of only two brands in top 10 with improved resale value for 2010

"This achievement is a testament to the strength and heritage of the Jeep brand," said James Bell, Executive Market Analyst - Kelley Blue Book. "The word 'Jeep' has long stood for strength, portraying the vision of what a Jeep is, and what it can do. The Wrangler has, and continues to be the backbone of this marque, drawing a strong and loyal following, helping to maintain its value."

While eight of the brands in the study's top 10 declined versus their 2009 values-- with the industry average declining 1.6 percent-- the Jeep brand's resale value improved 2.8 percent for 2010.

"We are pleased that the Jeep brand has been recognized by Kelley Blue Book for earning the highest resale value among domestic brands, and that Jeep has improved significantly in a difficult year that has seen the industry decline," said Mike Manley, President and CEO-- Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. "The Jeep brand's high resale value is a testament to a legendary, iconic brand that provides consumers an array of SUVs that deliver a unique blend of freedom and adventure, capability, best-in-class claims and value."

Motor Trend Looks at the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Motor Trend recently took a First Look at the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.  Here is an excerpt from the article;  read the full article here.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee has long been one of the most handsome SUVs on the market, and the new 2011 model is no exception. With Chrysler design's newfound emphasis on what's on the inside, the interior may no longer be a disappointment. The company touts the crossover's "premium soft-touch interior materials for all price classes," and even a leather instrument panel for the top-of-the-range Overland trim model.

The long list of standard and optional luxury and safety features includes:

Real wood interior trim
Heated steering wheel
Heated/ventilated front seats, heated rear seats
Four-way power lumbar controls
Rain-sensitive wipers
Passive entry/keyless go
Back-up camera
Power tilt/telescoping steering column with memory
Dual-pane panoramic sunroof, covers the top from the windshield header to the rear
Power rear liftgate with remote up/down
20-inch wheels optional on Limited and Overland trim levels
Standard electronic stability control, electronic roll mitigation
Hill-start assist, trailer-sway control and hill-descent control
Blind-spot/rear cross-path access, adaptive cruise control
Forward collision warning system
Remote start
U-Connect internet connectivity

If all that high-tech safety seems Mercedes-like, that's because the 2011 Grand Cherokee's basic platform began with the M-Class architecture, much like the Chrysler 300/Dodge Charger/Challenger, which have old E-Class parts.
